Paddle strokes for stroke survivors
Mission Statement
My name is Jeff Wunrow, and I am a stroke survivor. For the last four years, I have been a long distance adventure kayaker. I have paddled the 2,300 mile Mississippi River from its source at Lake Itasca, MN to the Gulf of Mexico and the 652 mile Tennessee River from its source in Knoxville, TN to its end in Paducah, KY.
In November 2021, just months after completing the Tennessee River, I suffered a major stroke. While in emergency surgery to remove the clot from my brain, my beautiful mother, whom had passed away 17 years ago, appeared to me to tell me I was about to given an amazing gift, urging me keep paddling to use my passion or kayaking to inspire other stroke survivors to keep a positive outlook and to challenge themselves by setting big goals. These goals could be kayaking or any outdoor activity. Find your big dream and be fearless in doing the work to get you there.
To honor my Mom's request, I began my Paddle Strokes for Stroke Survivor initiative. Through my kayaking and with my Youtube channel, I will create content that is inspiring and informational for stroke survivors and their loved ones.
